  1. Who is Andreea?

I think the best word to describe myself is curiosity. I love to discover new ways, paths, approaches, people and cultures.

  1. What background do you have?

I have an artistic background due to my high school vocational program, and after that I followed The Faculty of Psychologies from Bucharest University and now I’m a psychotherapist in supervision and full time IT Recruiter.

  1. Right now, you are a fully-fledged IT recruiter in AMS. How did you end up in this industry?

For many years I had contact with people working in IT, from family to friends, I was always surrounded by IT related topics and it kinda’ grew up on me. The recruitment area was a natural choice, this job giving me the possibility to make a positive impact and many opportunities to better at what I do.

  1. Would you tell us a little bit about your beginnings as an IT recruiter?

I started as an IT recruiter in January, this year, and like every beginning – there was a lot of excitement and new things to discover. I was very fortunate to have amazing colleagues, who were patient and supportive and helped me to find my own path.

  1. What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome so far?

I think that the biggest obstacle until now was the one that everybody confronted this year, the pandemic context and the adjustments that had to be made to get back on track.

  1. What has changed in your approach since you started working in IT recruiting?

In the beginning I was a little intimated when I was supposed to talk to a candidate with many years of experience, but I learned that the connection you make with someone can and -actually should be- more than a checklist over experience and technologies. There are many aspects to be explored, from their needs, expectations, interests and many more.

  1. What does Andreea know now about IT recruiting and she did not see when she started working in this field?

With every client and every new project, I discover something new and exciting about the industry. The perks that come with working in this industry is that you always learn something 😊.

  1. If you would start your job once again in AMS, what would you do differently?

I don’t know if I would change something, because I have no regrets about the path I chose. That led me where I am today, and I am grateful for that.

  1. Which is the most important ability an IT recruiter should possess, from your perspective?

I think the most important this is to stay true to yourself and be honest. Without those things, you are just fooling around, and the candidates always can tell that.

  1. AMS is an IT recruitment agency. How do you see working in an agency different from being an in-house recruiter?

There are many differences between agencies and in-house recruitment, but the most prominent one is that in an agency you have the diversity factor, due to many roles you get to work on.

  1. What are the most rewarding parts of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is when the candidates find their place in a team that was made for them, in terms of environment and culture. Getting in touch with them and knowing they enjoy the company and their new role is beyond compare.

  1. Do you have any favorite roles you enjoy recruiting for?

I guess the Front End roles are the most exciting for me and I can easily connect with this area.

  1. Your recommendations for those who want to start a career in IT recruiting?

Don’t be afraid to start something new 😊. This is an industry where novelty is always your best friend. You get to learn a lot and find interesting things at every step of the way.
